It is further divided into Mishrif Mbr, Rumalla Mbr, Ahmadi Mbr, Wara Mbr, Mauddud Mbr, Safaniya Mbr (Upper Khafji), Dair Lst Mbr, Khafji Main Sst Mbr (Lower Khafji)
It is brown and yellow-weathering, fine-grained to very fine-grained quartz sandstone, in part silty, with scattered quartz pebbles. Pronounced cross bedding is generally well developed except in uppermost part in Mishrif Mbr, Rumalla Mbr
It is red and purple silty, sandy shale; some green clay shale; common thin brown to black ironstone partings; a 0.1 m reddish-brown sandy silty granular dolomite with calcite-filled vugs at the base. Elsewhere nearby similar dolomite layers occur at higher levels in Rumalla Mbr, Ahmadi Mbr
It is buff and red banded, fine-grained sandstone and siltstone, showing small-scale cross bedding in Wara Mbr
It is brown-weathering, green, sandy silty shale in Mauddud Mbr
It is gray, green, and, red, silty fine-grained sandstone and coarse siltstone, relatively thin-bedded in Safaniya Mbr (Upper Khafji), Dair Lst Mbr, Khafji Main Sst Mbr (Lower Khafji)
